Africa-Press – Gambia. tropical wave, located near the Cabo Verde Islands off the West African coast, is showing signs that it could become a tropical cyclone.

The US National Hurricane Centre (NHC) said the wave “is producing disorganised showers and thunderstorms.”

NHC forecast that environmental conditions are marginally conducive for gradual development of this system while it moves westward to west-north-westward at 15 to 20 miles per hour across the eastern and central tropical Atlantic during the early to middle part of this week.

The wave has a 20 per cent chance of developing into a tropical cyclone over the next five days, according to NHC’s forecast.

If the system becomes a tropical storm, it will be called Danielle.
