Africa-Press – Gambia. Dou Sanno, a senior figure in the governing National People’s Party and a presidential adviser, has urged voters in Foni to reject the APRC–No-To-Alliance faction while sharply criticizing Almameh Gibba, the National Assembly member for Foni Kansala.

Speaking at a campaign gathering in Foni Giffoin, Mr. Sanno told residents not to be “misled,” arguing that political actors without a clear agenda risk undermining stability in the region. He appealed for calm and continuity, framing political leadership as cyclical and subject to change.

“We want Foni to have peace and stop being deceived,” Mr. Sanno said. “No one can be president forever. Presidents come and go. The question should be, “What benefits the people?”

Mr. Sanno then turned his attention to Mr. Gibba, responding to remarks the lawmaker had previously made about his independence as a parliamentarian. Mr. Sanno argued that government policies under President Adama Barrow had materially improved the conditions of National Assembly members, including Mr. Gibba.

He cited improved remuneration for lawmakers and housing provisions, attributing those changes to the current administration. In personal terms, Mr. Sanno contrasted Mr. Gibba’s circumstances before and after President Barrow took office, saying the lawmaker’s situation had improved during the current government.

“Before, many did not have official residences,” Mr. Sanno said. “These changes came under President Barrow’s leadership.”

Mr. Sanno concluded by urging Mr. Gibba and others, particularly those campaigning in Foni, to acknowledge what he described as gains made under the NPP-led government, rather than criticizing the president and the ruling party in the region.

Neither Mr. Gibba nor representatives of the APRC-No-To-Alliance responded immediately to the remarks.
