Africa-Press – Gambia. Mr. Bakary Sanyang, the Secretary General of the National People’s Party (NPP) for Kombo East Constituency, has officially resigned from his post and declared his allegiance to Kebba Madi Bojang’s emerging political movement, the National Development Party (NDP), which is yet to be formally registered.
In a letter dated June 29, 2025, Sanyang stated: “I formally write to tender my resignation from today, 29th June 2025, as the constituency secretary general for Kombo East Constituency, the position I have served diligently for four years. I have now decided to join the National Democratic Party of Hon. Kebba Madi Bojang (NDP),” he said. Sanyang attributed his departure to a loss of confidence in both the NPP leadership and the current administration.
“I therefore thanked the entire constituency executive members and the people of Kombo East Constituency for their support, trust, and respect we have shown to one another. I have forgiven you all and am asking you all for forgiveness. I pray for all of you the best in your future endeavors,” he added.
His resignation marks the third high-profile defection from the NPP in a week. Earlier, Nuha Ndong, Youth Coordinator for Pirang Ward, and Molly Cham, Youth Coordinator for the Sanementereng Constituency, also stepped down from their positions.
