Africa-Press – Gambia. The Office of the President has been allocated D740,490,804 in the 2026 draft budget presented to the National Assembly by the Minister of Finance on Friday.
The proposed budget outlines allocations to various government institutions and ministries, including D599,160,811 for the National Assembly, D406,747,976 for the Judiciary, and D2,108,507,020 for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Other significant allocations include D1,771,186,304 for the Ministry of Agriculture, D2,033,151,105 for the Ministry of Works and Infrastructure, and D3,141,774,298 for the Ministry of Health—one of the largest shares in the draft budget. The Office of the Vice President is allocated D370,087,259, while the Ministry of Youth and Sports receives D146,536,557.
The Ministry of Higher Education, Research, Science, and Technology is set to receive D1,312,264,429; the Ministry of Interior, D2,374,977,711; and the Ministry of Defence, D1,264,996,914. Additionally, D722,500,000 has been earmarked for pensions and gratuities.
Other allocations include:

D303,238,708 for the Ministry of Environment
D68,267,794 for the Ministry of Information
D60,576,421 for the Ministry of Fisheries
D1,312,264,429 for the Ministry of Petroleum
The 2026 draft budget has been tabled before the National Assembly for consideration and subsequent approval.
