Africa-Press – Gambia. The Patriotic Alliance for System Transformation and Emancipation through Functionalism (PASTEF) has clarified its position as an independent political movement operating in The Gambia.
The movement says it is engaged in political advocacy and participation, with a strategic focus on systemic transformation ahead of the 2026 presidential elections.
According to Mr. Mayorro Sidibeh, Communication Officer and PRO of PASTEF, the movement plans to present a presidential candidate in the 2026 election, either independently or in coalition with other political entities, depending on the prevailing political climate. He emphasized that this decision would be guided by the movement’s commitment to ideological consistency and national transformation.
“PASTEF The Gambia is rooted in a conceptual and ideological framework known as the Conceptual National Framework, which defines its vision for national policy, legal reforms, and institutional renewal,” Mr. Sidibeh said. “It is not a personality-driven organization; rather, it is a collective institution that emphasizes issue-based politics and system-centred governance.”
He adds that PASTEF rejects any notion of personality cults or individual-centred partisanship, stressing instead a nationalist approach that prioritizes the collective interest, institutional accountability, and sustainable development.
Mr. Sidibeh further notes that PASTEF The Gambia remains open to all citizens committed to genuine national progress, calling on patriotic Gambians to contribute to its vision for institutional transformation, unity, and inclusive governance.
