Giving his defence at the Brikama Magistrates’ Court presided over by Magistrate Peter Adoh Che, Lamin Cham, a resident of Lamin Village who is standing trial for a theft charge leveled against him has denied the allegation of stealing the properties of Omar Cham which valued at D22,881.
Lamin Cham said he was arrested by the Anti-Crime Officer at Banjulinding Village because of his relationship with the 1st accused, Yaya Touray and he was taken to the scene of the crime where the Police Anti-Crime Officer took a picture of him forcefully.
‘’I am not part of the theft and burglary of the properties of Omar Cham and the allegations of the Police Anti-Crime were based on my relationship with Yaya Touray because we do go to work together’’, he exclaimed.
However, Sub-Inspector Louis Gomez, the prosecuting Officer objected to Lamin Cham’s Claims, stating that he was arrested with the 1st accused, Yaya Touray, and they were caught with the missing properties of Omar Cham which were presented as exhibits before the court.
‘’You led the Police Anti-Crime Officers to the scene of the crime where evidence was established ‘’, Louis Gomez, the Police prosecutor stated.
But Lamin Cham objected to the Police prosecutor claim.
The case is been adjourned to the 15th of November 2022 for continuation.

According to the particular of his offence before the court Lamin Cham, Yaya Touray, and Ousman Camara on the 12th September 2021 at Lamin Village in West Coast Region of the Republic of the Gambia broke into the shop of Omar Cham and stole properties valued at twenty-two thousand eight hundred and eighty-one (D22,881) dalasi. Thereby committing an offence.
