Africa-Press – Gambia. The police have arrested Abubacarr Touray, a 22-year-old taxi driver from Faji Kunda, for allegedly planning a violent robbery as the leader of a six-person group on June 16, 2024.

The suspect (taxi driver) was hired by the victim for a five-day service for D10,000 but allegedly conspired with accomplices Ebrima Konateh, Ebrima Sarr, Demba Jarju, and Edi Boy—all arrested except one—to commit the robbery. They carried out the crime during a trip from Abuko to a location between Ndemban Clinic and Sting Corner, where they ambushed the victim. The accomplices had knives, cutlasses, and pepper spray to assault the victim and stole D4,000 in cash, a mobile phone, D7,000, and a PlayStation gaming console.

The public is reminded to remain vigilant, especially during feast periods, and to report any suspicious activities to the nearest police station.
