Africa-Press – Gambia. Police probe child ‘ritual’ killing in Tanji By Lamin Cham

Police in Tanji were on Wednesday called to a scene where the body of a young girl, believed to be three years old, was found. Eyewitnesses told The Standard that the body had “very serious cuts” suggesting that she must have been murdered for ritual purposes.

Police public relations officer Superintendent Lamin Njie confirmed to The Standard that they received reports of a suspected ritual homicide in Tanji.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the child went missing on 5th November and was found dead on 17th November in a bizarre state suggesting a likely ritual homicide,” Njie said.

He further disclosed that the police forensic unit has visited the crime scene and the matter is being investigated. He called on the public, particularly those in Tanji and the surroundings who may have information that may be useful to the investigations, to contact the police.
