Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambia Police Force (GPF) has launched an investigation into a reported theft involving D351,000 and several laptops from the National Audit Office (NAO).
According to the police, the stolen items were taken from the ICT Support Unit of the NAO. Surveillance footage reportedly shows two unidentified individuals entering the premises and leaving with the stolen property.
“CCTV footage captured two unidentified individuals entering the building and leaving with the items,” the police stated.
The police stated that Crime Scene Investigators (CSIs) and Criminal Investigation Department (CID) officers visited the scene; however, they were unable to retrieve any fingerprints due to contamination of the area prior to their arrival.
Authorities confirmed that several individuals have been arrested in connection with the ongoing investigation. Among them is Modou Mustapha Jallow, also known as “Jamaica,” who was apprehended during a night operation in the Westfield Cooperative vicinity. According to police, Jallow confessed to the burglary and admitted to selling the stolen laptops at the Serrekunda black market.

The Gambia Police Force has reassured the public that all efforts are underway to bring those responsible to justice and to recover the stolen items.
