President Barrow Reshuffles Cabinet and Audit Office

Africa-Press – Gambia. President Adama Barrow has made significant changes to his government, announcing a cabinet reshuffle and appointments in key oversight institutions. The changes, made in accordance with Sections 71(1) and 71(3) of the Constitution, took effect immediately on Wednesday, 10th September 2025.

As part of the reshuffle, Honourable Baboucar Ousmaila Joof, formerly the Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment, has been reassigned as Minister of Defence.

Replacing him at the Trade Ministry is Mr. Modou Ceesay, who previously served as Auditor General. He now assumes the role of Minister of Trade, Industry, Regional Integration, and Employment.

The leadership shakeup also affected the national audit sector. Mr. Cherno Amadou Sowe, formerly the Director of Internal Audit, has been promoted to Auditor General.

Mr. Masireh K. Drammeh has been appointed as Acting Director of Internal Audit, succeeding Sowe.
