Africa-Press – Gambia. Continuing his nationwide tour, President Adama Barrow yesterday visited several project sites in Farafenni to assess progress and gain first-hand information on their implementation.
The President’s first stop was the Jah Oil cement production and distribution factory in Farafenni Bereto, which is expected to produce at least 100 bags of cement per day. The site also showcased farming equipment, including tractors and ploughing machines, reportedly procured for rice production in the region.
President Barrow then proceeded to the Africa50 project site, also in Farafenni, which is currently under construction. The project is the first under Africa50’s Asset Recycling Programme and is managed by Africa50 Mobility Company. It involves the management, operation, and maintenance of the Trans-Gambia Bridge under a Concession Agreement, following a shareholders’ agreement signed between Africa50 and the Government of The Gambia.
The project aims to enhance operational efficiency while minimizing environmental impacts on the surrounding ecosystem. It also focuses on waste management, biodiversity protection, and occupational and community health and safety.
The final stop on the President’s visit was the Farafenni General Hospital, where he toured the FABB Foundation Maternity Unit, highlighting government efforts to strengthen healthcare infrastructure.
