During an unannounced visit to the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Baboucarr Bouy, Minister of Public Service, Administrative Reforms, Policy Coordination, and Delivery, emphasized that punctuality is an essential and non-negotiable aspect of civil service professionalism. He reiterated the ministry’s commitment to enforcing strict adherence to time management.

Minister Bouy urged all ministers to lead by example within their respective ministries, stressing that “Discipline and dedication must be part of our daily routine.”

This surprise inspection forms part of the ministry’s broader initiative to strengthen workplace discipline, enhance punctuality across government offices, and evaluate staff attendance and time management practices.

“We came without notice to observe the reality on the ground,” Minister Bouy explained. “Punctuality is not negotiable in the civil service; it’s a core part of professionalism, and we are committed to enforcing it,” he noted.

Bakary Y. Badjie, Minister of Youth and Sports, assured Minister Bouy that punctuality is not a challenge in his ministry. “Unlike other institutions, mobility is not an issue for us,” he noted.

He commended his team’s consistent dedication, highlighting their seriousness and commitment to their work.

Minister Bouy’s delegation included Lamin F. Jawara, Permanent Secretary at the PMO; Sheriff Jallow, Permanent Secretary for Reforms and Delivery; Essa Marong, Director of Performance Management; and Sulayman Ndow, Biometric Systems IT Officer.
