Sainabou Martin Sonko, the chief executive officer of Kanifing Municipal Council has spoken about the fraud allegation levelled against her by his office, saying people should allow the investigation to complete. She said the Mayor of KMC, Ahmed Talib Bensouda accused her wrongly of fraud, adding because he is angry at her about lots of issues.
“I have lots of evidence but things have to be rationalised, and about the bank loan, I consulted the Mayor and he told me he needed a general council resolution. We have been taking loans from the Trust Bank and those loans have been guaranteed by the CEOs,” she said.
“I have worked for GAMTEL for 17 good years and no one knows me with fraud and I worked for GBOs, but Talib made a mistake by accusing me of what I have not done. Talib accused me wrongly because he is angry at me and about the issue of the Deputy Mayor is part of it and the issue is complicated,” she added.
Meanwhile, she accepted a D30,000 allegation made against her saying “Yes, about the D30,000, I have my evidence and is the same evidence I will present to the Commission. Yes, it is true they gave me D30,000 and I acknowledged it for the inspection team and it came from one Alieu Danso, who owns a Real Estate Company.”
“I am accused of fraud and I am being investigated so that appropriate measures can be taken against me, why not we allow that investigation to take place.” she said.
