Africa-Press – Gambia. The Gambian national football team, the Scorpions, is intensifying their preparations for Wednesday’s World Cup qualifier against the Swallows of Burundi. The team held a final training session on Tuesday to activate their muscles and fine-tune their strategy.
The Scorpions are coming off an impressive 3-1 victory over hosts Kenya on Friday. They will be looking to build on that momentum and improve their position in the standings.
Currently, the Gambia sits in fourth place in their six-team group with 7 points from seven matches. Burundi, who won the initial fixture 3-2, is in third place with 10 points. While both teams are out of the race for World Cup qualification, a win would be a major boost for the Scorpions.
In the group’s top two spots, Ivory Coast leads the standings with 19 points, followed closely by Gabon with 18 points. Both teams have three games left to play.
