Africa-Press – Gambia. In a gesture aimed at strengthening cross-border relations, a delegation from the Colonies de Vacances (Holiday Camps) group paid a courtesy visit to the Gambian Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture (MOTAC), Honourable Abdoulie Jobe, on Wednesday.
The group, composed of Senegalese students and their teachers, was received by Minister Jobe at the Gambia Tourism Board (GTBoard) office in Kotu.
Minister Jobe welcomed the delegation, emphasizing the importance of nurturing the bond between The Gambia and Senegal. “I greet all the children first, because they are the reason we are here today,” he said. “The children are our future, and it is our responsibility to train and guide them.”
He underscored that the initiative to host the group came directly from President Adama Barrow, who is committed to strengthening the relationship between the two nations. “We are united, and Allah has brought us together,” he added.
Dr. Batch Faye, the GTBoard chairman, echoed the minister’s sentiments, highlighting the shared similarities between the two countries. “If we nurture them from a young age, they will grow with these values,” he said, referring to the students. “The elders are also pleased with your visit.”
The group’s leader, Sarr Rene Mame Waly, expressed gratitude for the warm welcome, noting that their journey to The Gambia was seamless, unlike in previous years. He commended the tourism authorities for their excellent reception and for resolving past logistical issues.
Sylla Me Fatou Ba, another member of the delegation, also expressed her thanks, noting the good condition of the roads, which made travel easy and fast. “When we informed people in Dakar about our experience, they were surprised,” she said.
Both officials from the visiting group emphasized that the kindness shown to the children on this trip will not be forgotten and will help to build a stronger connection between the two countries in the future.
