Africa-Press – Gambia. South African startup Flood has secured $2.5 million in seed funding to expand its “SuperApp-as-a-Service” platform, which aims to digitize offline retail in emerging markets. Founded by André de Wet, the company offers a no-code, API-based commerce platform to telcos, banks, and enterprises, enabling them to support marketplace models that span products, services, payments, and logistics.
Flood’s platform assists partners in building digital ecosystems by seamlessly embedding commerce, loyalty, and payment features directly into apps that consumers already use. Key functionalities include merchant onboarding, loyalty programs, discovery tools, real-time analytics, and in-store pickup. The platform has gained traction in South Africa, India, and the Maldives, with plans to expand into additional markets later this year.
This recent seed funding round follows a $1 million raise in July 2024. The new capital will be used to accelerate expansion, forge new partnerships with telcos and banks, and onboard thousands of offline merchants.
