The Bashundhara Kings captain, who is expected to be ruled out for the rest of the season, required a surgery to expedite his recovery, according to doctors in India who saw his reports.Abu Sufian Sharker, physio of Kings, is accompanying the defender in Mumbai. Dr Dinshaw Pardiwala, Director, Arthroscopy, Sports Orthopedics and Head of Centre for Sports Medicine in Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital and Medical Research Centre, will conduct the surgery, said a press release from Bashundhara Kings.

Tapu’s studs got stuck on the turf of the Kamalapur venue as he hurt ligament in his left knee. As his condition showed no improvement, Tapu, who had also undergone a surgery in Kolkata in 2000 for another knee injury, flew to India recently for better treatment.
