Africa-Press – Gambia. Lamin Manneh, Deputy External Affairs Secretary of the United Democratic Party (UDP), has expressed strong confidence that his party will secure victory in the 2026 presidential election.

Speaking during a recent engagement, Manneh asserted that electoral malpractice is a thing of the past in The Gambia, adding that no political party can undermine the will of the people.

“In 2026 we are going to win and win big and go to the state house and call them before the courts,” he expressed.

He alleged that the ruling National People’s Party (NPP) is concerned about potential legal consequences should the UDP come to power. According to Manneh, the NPP “knows they cannot win or buy elections anymore or intimidate Gambians into voting for them.”

“We said never again in 2016, and we mean never again,” he said.

Manneh stressed that the UDP’s political struggle is rooted in peaceful engagement, not violence. “We will not spill blood or burn the country down. We will not follow you into your tragic situation,” he said.

He concluded by reaffirming the UDP’s commitment to national development: “The Gambia belongs to Gambians, and we will fight to make it livable and enjoyable for all.”
