Africa-Press – Gambia. The United Democratic Party (UDP) has announced a series of grassroots consultations across the country as part of its process to select a flagbearer for the 2026 presidential elections.

According to the party’s schedule, the consultations will begin on Friday, 5th September 2025, in the North Bank Region (Kerewan) from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a session in the Central River Region North (Kuntaur) from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday, 6th September, the tour will continue in the Upper River Region (Basse) in the morning, before moving to the Central River Region South (Bansang) later in the afternoon.

The following day, Sunday, 7th September, meetings will be held in the Lower River Region (Soma) in the morning and in the West Coast Region (Brikama) in the afternoon.

The final leg of the consultations is set for Monday, 8th September, beginning in Banjul from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., and concluding in Kanifing Municipality (Manjai) later that afternoon.

Party officials emphasized that the exercise is strictly limited to UDP executive members at the regional, constituency, and ward levels. The respective regional secretariats will provide verified lists of eligible participants.

The UDP further clarified that no transport refunds or lunch allowances will be provided during the consultation process.
