Africa-Press – Gambia. United Democratic Party (UDP) National Assembly Member Alhagie S. Darboe has urged unity within the party, stressing the need for healing and reconciliation to strengthen its ranks.
“Those leaving should be brought back. Right now, UDP needs healing and reconciliation,” Darboe said.
He cautioned against the use of divisive or disparaging language toward former members, noting that such rhetoric only makes reconciliation more difficult. Instead, he called for a spirit of appreciation, recognizing the contributions of both current and former members.
Darboe acknowledged that disagreements and conflicts are inevitable in politics, but warned against dwelling on the past. He encouraged forgiveness and a forward-looking approach that prioritizes unity over grievances.
According to him, the party’s elders are already working to bridge divisions and restore cohesion within the UDP.
