Africa-Press – Gambia. The United Democratic Party (UDP) has officially announced the list of 11 contenders vying for the party’s flagbearer position in the run-up to the 2026 presidential elections. The announcement was made at a press conference on Wednesday by Hon. Alhagie S. Darboe, the party’s Administrative Secretary.
The applicants represent a mix of seasoned politicians, legal practitioners, businessmen, and professionals, underscoring the broad interest in leading the country’s largest opposition party.

-Borry S. Touray – Lawyer
– Talib Ahmed Bensouda – Mayor of Kanifing Municipal Council (KMC)
-Amadou Sanneh – National Treasurer

-Sulayman Saho – National Assembly Member
– Dr. Lamin J. Darboe

-Dr. Muhammed Danjo – Medical Doctor
