Africa-Press – Gambia. His Excellency Mohammed BS Jallow, Vice President of The Gambia, on Saturday presided over the official launch of the National Assembly Strategy Plan 2025–2029 at the Sir Dawda Kairaba Jawara International Conference Centre in Bijilo.
Themed “Enhancing Parliamentary Performance, Strengthening Democratic Institutions, and Inclusive Citizen Engagement,” the new Strategy Plan outlines a bold and forward-looking vision for a more effective, responsive, and people-centred National Assembly.
In his keynote address, Vice President Jallow highlighted the profound significance of this initiative, noting that it reflects the national aspirations of The Gambia and aligns with the core tenets of the New Gambia we are all working to build.
“This Strategic Plan is more than just a document,” he said. “It is a declaration of our collective intent and a roadmap to ensure that our Parliament becomes a stronger pillar of our democracy.”
He further emphasized that a nation’s progress is closely tied to the strength and effectiveness of its legislative body. The Strategic Plan, he noted, will serve as a foundation for enhancing the Assembly’s core functions: robust law-making, vigilant oversight, and genuine representation of the Gambian people.
This launch marks a critical step in reaffirming our democratic commitment and ensuring that every citizen’s voice is not only heard but meaningfully represented.
