Africa-Press – Gambia. Vice President Mohammed B.S. Jallow has described the late former Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari as a “true African statesman” during a visit to the Nigerian High Commission in Banjul, following Buhari’s passing on July 13th, 2025.

Signing the condolence book on behalf of President Adama Barrow, the Government, and the people of The Gambia, VP Jallow conveyed heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Nigeria, expressing solidarity in their time of mourning.

VP Jallow highlighted Buhari’s dedication to public service, peace, and continental unity. He particularly acknowledged Buhari’s pivotal role during The Gambia’s 2016 political transition, noting, “His leadership was instrumental in ensuring a peaceful outcome.”

He praised Buhari’s legacy of integrity and commitment to the African cause, adding, “We remain indebted to his legacy. He was a man of integrity, and Africa has lost one of its great sons.”

He was accompanied by Sering Modou Njie, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to sign the condolence book on behalf of President Adama Barrow, the Government, and the people of The Gambia.

The Vice President was accompanied by Foreign Affairs Minister Sering Modou Njie during the visit.
