Africa-Press – Gambia. Morocco international and Angers SCO winger, Sofiane Boufal, promised to give his all against Egypt to make the Moroccan fans happy.

Egypt qualified to the Africa Cup of Nations quarter-finals after beating Ivory Coast in a thrilling penalty shootout.

Morocco on the other hand advanced to the quarter-finals after overcoming Malawi in the round of 16 with the result of 2-1.

The game will take place next Sunday, 30 January at Ahmadou Ahidjo Stadium in Yaoundé, with the winner playing against Cameroon or The Gambia in the semi-finals.

The game will be a replay of the 2017 AFCON quarterfinals, when the Pharaohs came out as winners thanks to a late Mahmoud Kahraba winner.Boufal missed the 2017 tournament with a knee injury, but will look to rewrite history in this edition and beat Egypt to reach their first AFCON semi-final since 2004.

“Coach Halilhodzic asked me to be more efficient, and that’s what I’m working on to help my team, and I think things are going in the right direction,” Boufal said in the pre-match press conference.

“Today we are doing a good job without pressure, and the most important thing is to give everything we can in all the matches to make the Moroccan fans happy.

“We were behind in two games and were able to come back, and that shows the mental strength we have.We know that the Moroccan people expect a lot from us, and we will spare no effort against Egypt to make them happy,” he concluded.
