Yonna Group Concludes Amaanah Football Tournament Finale

Africa-Press – Gambia. The Yonna Group has successfully concluded the historic Amaanah Football Tournament, a groundbreaking initiative that brought together 79 Arabic schools from across the Kanifing Municipality and West Coast Region. The final matches were held at the Brikama Box Ba Mini Stadium, marking the end of the country’s first fully sponsored inter-Arabic school football competition.

Launched on November 14, the tournament aimed to promote youth empowerment, equal opportunity, and community development through sport. Over the past several months, it has showcased exceptional football talent while fostering unity and leadership among young students in Islamic schools.

In the junior category final, Daaru Arkham Islamic School (Brikama) emerged victorious with a 2-0 win over Modern Science Islamic School (Abuko). Meanwhile, Mahad Islamic Institute (Brikama) dominated the senior category, defeating Ali Bun Abi Talib Islamic School (Sukuta) with a convincing 4-1 scoreline.

Winners in both categories received GMD 25,000, while runners-up were awarded GMD 20,000.

As the tournament’s sole sponsor, Yonna Group covered all logistics, including official kits for participating schools, ensuring every team had equal access and representation. In recognition of its commitment to youth development, the Group’s Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer were honored with a special medal during the closing ceremony.

Speaking at the finals, Yonna Group representatives emphasized the company’s broader vision. “We are not just in business—we are building a better tomorrow by investing in education, sports, and the untapped potential of our young people,” a spokesperson said.

The Amaanah Football Tournament has not only provided a platform for athletic excellence but also reinforced the role of sports in nurturing discipline, teamwork, and leadership among youth. It is expected to become an annual event, further cementing Yonna Group’s role as a key partner in national development.
