President Adama Barrow on Saturday received in audience members of the Gambia Wrestling Association at the State House.

The group came to discuss matters relating to the upgrading and development of the sport as it represents both a leisure entertainment and of cultural significance to the country.

The delegation comprises of representatives from wrestling stakeholders across the country, as the national association registered over 4,000 wrestlers and their fans countrywide.

The President, along with officials of the Ministries of Health, Culture and Sports lauded the association for their steadfastness in keeping the sport alive against the many odds.

President Barrow outlined plans that his government has put in place for the development of sports in general, as the line Ministry’s budget has doubled in the next year’s budget; plus other incentives like the D1-per-call sports levy on GSM operators.

He assured them of the government’s attention in forging ahead and is optimistic that more investments would follow.
