Africa-Press – Ghana. Dr. Toni Aubynn, Chairman, Fundraising Committee of the 18th President’s Cup has confirmed the tournament is on track for a remarkable success, promising a thrilling and competitive fixture on Sunday.
The committee was inaugurated by Mr. Kofi Iddie Adams, Minister of Sports and Recreation, to raise funds for the highly anticipated clash between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak.
Dr. Aubynn, in his speech, expressed gratitude to the Sports Minister for entrusting the team with the responsibility to deliver a good job.
“Sunday’s event, the 18th Presidents Cup will be an extraordinary one because the President himself is looking forward to the big day because that’s his cup and it is supposed to be pure entertainment,” he said.
He noted that, despite the short notice, corporate organizations responded positively and came on board to sponsor the event with products and cash.
The Chairman announced that Dancehall musician Shatta Wale, alongside Kweku Smoke and other prominent artists, has been booked to headline the event.
He urged fans to flock to the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday to witness one of the biggest sporting events in the country, featuring two traditional clubs.
Dr. Aubynn again indicated that adequate security and other essential arrangements have been made ahead of the event.
Mr. John Kofi Ansah, President, Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) also commended the team members for the support to make this year’s event successful.
He appealed to fans to maintain decorum and adhere to the rules given by security officials when they attend the event at the stadium.
Held each year, the Cup honors the sitting President of the Republic while serving as a symbol of national unity and respect for the high office.
