Africa-Press – Ghana. Some individuals and organisations making significant impact in the northern sector of the country have been awarded at this year’s Northern Excellence Awards held in Tamale.
The awardees were Buipewura Abdulai Jinapor, Vice President of the National House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of Buipe Traditional Area, who received the Development Oriented Chief of the Year, Mr Attah Issah, Member of Parliament (MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency, received People’s MP of the Year Award, Dr Tiah Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, MP for Walewale Constituency, received the Emerging Political Leader and Advocate for Youth Empowerment, Mr Manasseh Azure Awuni, Investigative journalist, received most influential media personality of the decade award, Miss Alimatu Bawah Wiabriga, Co-Founder of Cowtribe, received Social Entrepreneur of the Year
Others are Miss Maltiti Sayida Sadick, a journalist with the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation, received Most Promising Media Personality of the Year, Mr Yakubu Abdul-Karim, Founder and Executive Director of Baron Healing Hearts Foundation, received the Community Impact and Humanitarian Service Award.
The rest of the awardees were Kodu Technology, received Social Innovation Enterprise of the Year, Total Life Enhancement Centre, received Excellence in Mental Health Advocacy and Psychosocial Development Organisation of the Year, Dabokpa Technical Institute, received Community Innovation and Technical Transformation School of the Year, Dame Anna-Maria Fati Paul, Chief Executive Officer of Fachi Little Flower School Complex Ltd, received Educational Excellence and Community Impact Personality of the Year, Mr Felix Sangteeh, Chief Executive Officer, Majesty Galazy Ghana Ltd, received Emerging Business Personality of the Year, Alhaji Alhassan Sofwan, Chief Executive Officer, Alsofwan Engineering and Construction Company Ltd, received Tradition and Development Advocate Award.
Alhaji Hussein Yushaw Fuzak, Chief Executive Officer, Fuzak Construction Company, received Community Builder and Social Impact Award, Dr Arnold Mashud Abukari, Executive Director of AfriTech Hub, received Outstanding Youth Achiever in Digital Empowerment and Civic Impact while Aisha Hospital, received Community Health Development Award.
The Northern Excellence Awards is an annual initiative by Celebrities Charity Development Foundation, a not-for profit organisation committed to acknowledging and celebrating individuals and organisations that are making significant impact in the northern sector of the country.
Mr Alhassan Abdul-Latif, Executive Director of Celebrities Charity Development Foundation, said it was tailored to highlight the achievements of both established and emerging personalities, whose work had created positive social and economic impact in communities across the north.
Mr Peter Mintir Amadu, Executive Director of Total Life Enhancement Centre, who spoke to the Ghana News Agency after the awards ceremony, commended the Governing Board of the Northern Excellence Awards for the recognition, saying it would spur them to do more for the development of society.
