Asogli State Launches 2025 Asogli Te Za Initiative

Africa-Press – Ghana. The Chiefs and people of the Asogli State have officially launched the 2025 edition of the Asogli Te Za (Yam Festival) on the theme: “Together in Honesty and Purpose, We Build a Just, Peaceful and Prosperous Nation.”

The launch ceremony, held in Ho on Monday, marked the formal commencement of a series of events leading to the grand durbar slated for Saturday, October 4.

Volta Regional Minister, Mr. James Gunu, delivering the keynote address, described the festival as “a proud emblem of heritage, unity, and gratitude”, and commended Togbe Afede XIV and the entire Asogli State Council for their unwavering commitment to preserving and promoting the cultural identity of the people.

“This year’s theme resonates strongly with both the aspirations of government and the people of the Volta Region. It reminds us that beyond the symbolism of the yam, the festival is a call to collective truth, responsibility, and shared progress,” he said.

Mr. Gunu assured of the Regional Coordinating Council’s continued support for cultural events like Te Za, citing their potential to enhance tourism, attract investment, and foster social cohesion.

Togbe Adzie Lakle Howusu XII, the Warlord of Asogli State, called on residents of Ho to embrace and respect the history and traditions of the Asogli people, particularly those living within the municipality.

“Living in Ho comes with the responsibility of knowing the history and adhering to the values of the Asogli people,” he stated, as he appealed to the public to support and participate actively in this year’s celebration.

Togbe Howusu also charged the security agencies to be vigilant and ensure a peaceful and incident-free festival.

“As we begin the celebrations, I respectfully call on our security personnel to remain alert and ensure that all activities are conducted peacefully,” he added.

The official launch drew a large crowd, including Chiefs and Queen Mothers of the Asogli State, members of the security services, traditional drumming and dance groups, cultural organizations, and representatives from corporate institutions and civil society.

The festival is expected to feature cultural exhibitions, youth forums, clean-up exercises, health screenings, and other community-focused activities leading up to the grand durbar.

The Asogli Te Za remains a unifying celebration of heritage, peace, and progress, and continues to strengthen the bond between the Asogli State and its people home and abroad.
