Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Park Kyongsig, the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, has committed to continue promoting taekwondo in Ghana, stating that the Korean government fully supports this mission.

Speaking at the 15th edition of the 2025 Ambassador Cup, he described taekwondo as a martial art that requires physical activity, integrity, resolve, self-control, discipline, and respect for others.

Ambassador Park expressed his profound gratitude to the Ghana Taekwondo Federation (GTF) for successfully organising this year’s competition.

He said, “My deepest appreciation to all members of the GTF, the athletes, coaches, etc., for making today’s event possible.

“To the athletes, you have shown the most outstanding performance and will receive your rewards for your hard training and dedication for taekwondo.

“I hope you continue with your passion for taekwondo and work hard to become ever better.

“I would also like to note that only the trophy and the medal bearers are winners. Every participant of today’s contest is a winner.”

He said, “You are all winners. Not only that, but you have also shown outstanding physical performance, overcome your own limits with strenuous effort and determination, and also respected your competitors. This is the most meaningful victory.”

“I look forward to your passion for taekwondo becoming the cornerstone of the cultural ties between Korea and Ghana.”

The 15th Ambassador’s Taekwondo Championship, hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in collaboration with the Ghana Taekwondo Federation, was a huge success.

Over 150 athletes across the 16 regions of Ghana participated in this year’s championships.

The two-day event, which took place at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, featured thrilling matches in different weight categories where certificates and medals were awarded.

In the 68 Male category, Bilal Ide won gold, Benjamin Addo silver and Hassan Mohammed bronze.
