Africa-Press – Ghana. Togbe Dorglo Anumah VI, the Paramount Chief of Avenor Traditional Area and President of the Avenor Traditional Council has called on the youth from Akeve Gui, Suipe, Bayive, Wenu, and their surrounding communities to work collaboratively in promoting community development.
“To have peaceful communities, we must work collaboratively to ensure we get what we want. Development projects will surely be brought to your area with the support of all stakeholders.”
Togbe Anumah made the call during a meeting with the youth from the area that was aimed at discussing developmental challenges such as bad roads, lack of potable drinking water, access to electricity, security issues, and others.
He said the government would not be able to do all of it if external hands did not come to play.
Togbe Anumah, however, assured the youth that his outfit would ensure the area benefited from government projects and polices such as the construction of school blocks, roads, provision of potable water, and others.
He disclosed that the government, through the Municipal Assembly, has allocated a 6-unit classroom block with a 12-seater toilet facility at Akeve-Gui basic school and has since called for support from the communities during the construction of the project.
He also tasked them to initiate self-help development projects.
In a report read during the meeting, the youth outlined their challenges facing them and have since called for intervention.
“The most pressing one is the issue of youth unemployment, which leaves many of our energetic and capable young men and women idle and vulnerable. We believe that with your leadership and guidance, and through collaborative engagement with relevant stakeholders, we can find practical and lasting solutions to these issues.”
“Our intention here is not just to highlight the problems but also to be part of the solution by offering ideas, energy, and willingness to work for the betterment of our dear community,” it added.
The meeting also placed discussions on key issues regarding the Avenor Traditional Area such as the forthcoming ‘2025 Avenor Tutudoza’ activities where the youth have expressed their readiness to assist in recording a successful festival.
