Africa-Press – Ghana. The second edition of the International Conference on Environment, Social, Governance (ESG) and Sustainable Development of Africa 2025 would take off October 23-24 in Accra.

Hosted by Green Communities International, a non-governmental organisation; the forum is expected to bring together professionals from industry and academia to discuss issues of sustainability and related matters.

It will take place at the GIMPA Executive Conference Centre on the theme: “From Cradle to Cradle: Putting ESG and Sustainability First in Africa’s Green Transition Effort.”

The conversations, according to organisers, would touch on Climate Change and Green Finance, Corporate Social Investment, Environment and Social Governance, and Corporate Governance in Public Sector Institutions in Africa.

Professor De-Graft Owusu-Manu, President, Green Communities International, said the conference would help stakeholders to appreciate how to integrate the “emerging concept” of ESG into business processes.

He highlighted the “unprecedented changes” occurring in the environment, emphasising collective effort to respond to the climate challenges.

“We recognise that the path to a greener future requires collective effort, innovation, and a commitment to sustainable practices…together, we can make a significant difference in our environment and communities,” he noted.

Beyond adopting new technologies or implementing innovative practices, he noted that advocacy for green initiatives should include developing a mindset that “prioritises the health of the planet and the well-being of communities.”

The green initiative aims to build green communities that are not only sustainable but also resilient to the impacts of climate change.

Topics to be discussed include: “The Green Horizon: When Boardrooms Decide the Fate of the Planet”, and “Integrating Generative AI and Emerging Technologies in Sustainability and Green Governance,” among others.

The conference would serve as a platform for stakeholders and academic to interact with ESG and sustainability experts, which ill include keynote presentations from researchers, business and political leaders, and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
