Africa-Press – Ghana. Development Insights Hub (DIH), a sustainable and inclusive development non-profit organization, has inaugurated the Ghana Evaluation Week in Accra.
The event was on the theme; “Ghana’s Evaluation Journey: Progress, Challenges and the Way Forward.”
Mr Osama Makkawi Khogali, UNICEF Representative Ghana said that the event signified Ghana’s journey in strengthening monitoring and evaluation systems.
He said UNICEF reaffirmed its commitment to evidence based development, accountability, and inclusive progress for every child and citizen.
“Ghana has made significant progress in instituitionalizing monitoring and evaluation over the years. Through collaborative efforts of government institutions, development partners and stakeholders to build systems to generate, analyze, and use data for effective decision making,” he said.
He noted that the forum served as a move to bring the sector together to advance the use of data in Ghana.
Mr. Kwabena Agyei-Boakye, Founder Development Insights Hub said as an active player in the Monitoring and Evaluation sector in Africa, Ghana had implemented various reforms and initiatives as part of efforts to instituitionalize the culture and practice of monitoring and evaluation in the public sector.
He added that the event sought to raise awareness and promote knowledge sharing on evaluation practices, trends, and innovation.
” Our goal is to increase the demand, generation, and use of evidence to improve development and impact of public policies and programs,” he said.
He stated that practitioners and stakeholders during the event would improve their knowledge and skills by developing evaluation frameworks, tools, and approaches to fulfill demand and supply in the sector.
The event brought together organisations in the M&E sector such as the Ghana Monitoring and Evaluation Forum, Ghana Institute of Planning, Twende Mbele and African Evaluation Association.
