Africa-Press – Ghana. The Ghana Boxing Federation (GBF) will hold its executive elections on December 27, 2025, the body has announced after a meeting last month.
The meeting, held at the Charles Quartey Boxing Club in Accra, discussed Ghana’s participation in the International Boxing Association (IBA) World Championships in Abu Dhabi from November 30 to December 10, and the Youth Olympic qualifiers in Angola scheduled for December 12-20, 2025.
Mr Bernard Quartey, the GBF President told executives at the meeting that registration challenges for the IBA event were being resolved after documents were sent to the global body for approval.
Ghana has confirmed entry for four boxers in the Youth Olympic qualifiers – William Laryea, Rahman Ablorh, Margaret Oyo Quartey and Richardson Ofori.
The federation also agreed to stage a Ghana-Nigeria bilateral competition in March 2026 as part of preparations for the Commonwealth Games, and announced plans for a national championship from January 7-10, 2026.
While December 27 was fixed for the GBF elections, details such as the delegates list, filing fees, venue and budget remain outstanding.
