Sunyani Residents Excited about 2026 Budget Provisions

Africa-Press – Ghana. A cross section of the public in the Sunyani Municipality has lauded the 2026 budget statement, and anticipated the implementation of the provisions to accelerate progressive growth and development.

Dr Casseil Ato Forson, the Minister of Finance presented the budget to parliament Thursday November 13, 2025.

Reacting, some residents told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interview in Sunyani that implementation of the budget would tackle the socio-economic challenges and better the living conditions of the ordinary citizenry.

Mr Stanley Cudjoe, a public servant said the budget met his expectations, saying it would boost investor confidence and welcomed the government’s plans to expand the tax net, saying that was long overdue.

“There are many people in the informal sector who don’t pay tax but make substantial profits”, he stated, and commended the government for the fiscal discipline.

Mr Alhassan Abu, a trader, said proposed construction of the Expressway from Accra to Kumasi was highly commendable, and called on the government to extend the road project to the northern part of the country.

That will greatly enhance connectivity with neighbouring countries and thereby stimulate economic growth and development.

Miss Cecilia Ampofowaa, a worker, said provisions in the budget were welcome and urged Ghanaians to support the government in achieving its reset Ghana agenda of improving physical infrastructure and economic development.

Mr Abraham Dua, another resident, welcomed the government’s readiness to resume work for the completion of the abandoned Agenda 111 District Hospital and other projects initiated by the previous administration.

“After all the resources belong to the nation, not individuals and so we must avoid causing financial loss to the state by abandoning those projects”, he added.

Kobby Antwi, a student also urged the government to prioritise the establishment of factories and industries at strategic locations nationwide for the nation to add value to its raw materials.

He expressed optimism that boosting the local economy would transform the economic prospects of the country, saying with focus and commitment, the government could achieve its reset Ghana agenda and thereby create a better society for all.
