Africa-Press – Ghana. Assembly Members of the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Assembly (KKMA) have undergone a two-day capacity-building aimed at equipping them with a deeper understanding of the Local Governance Act 936 and the standing orders that guide their operations.
The training, held at Atimpoku in the Eastern Region, was facilitated by Mr Jonathan Azasoo, Lead Consultant at Zim Multi Consult Limited.
Mr Azasoo stressed the need for assembly members to fully appreciate their roles and responsibilities, adding that their work must always be guided by the dictates of the standing orders and other relevant governance documents.
He said holding such positions required discipline, commitment, and integrity, noting that assembly members were expected to exhibit qualities that matched the responsibilities entrusted to them by their electorates and the state.
Mr Samuel Tetteh Kwashie Morton, the Kpone-Katamanso Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), expressed gratitude to both the facilitator and the assembly members for making the training a success.
He encouraged all members, including government appointees, to work in unity to address the various developmental challenges confronting the municipality.
He said collaboration and a shared sense of purpose were essential for driving progress in the rapidly expanding municipality, and he reiterated the assembly’s commitment to strengthening local governance structures and ensuring that elected representatives were well-equipped to serve their communities effectively.
