Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Fred Tsekpor, the Ashaiman Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), has pledged to ensure that all major streets within the municipality are fitted with functioning streetlights before the Christmas holidays.

Mr Tsekpor made the commitment during a townhall meeting organised by the assembly to account to residents for their stewardship over the past years.

He said lighting up the major routes would help open the municipality, drive away criminal elements, and boost night-time business activities.

He noted that improved visibility remained a critical component of the assembly’s security and economic enhancement strategy.

The MCE also highlighted several projects undertaken by the assembly, including the construction and reshaping of roads, expansion of drainage systems, and improvements in markets, hospitals, and other essential social amenities.

He stressed that the assembly remained committed to delivering development to the doorstep of every resident in Ashaiman.

Mr Tsekpor further reminded residents of their civic obligation to pay the necessary rates and levies to enable the assembly to initiate and complete more development projects, adding that timely payment of these obligations was vital for sustaining progress within the municipality.

He further disclosed that the government had approved the construction of an ultramodern 24-hour market for Ashaiman, alongside other key social amenities aimed at improving living conditions and boosting local economic activity.

The press observed that more than a thousand residents gathered at the James McKeown Pentecost Church at Ashaiman for the town hall meeting, where they interacted with assembly officials, seeking clarification on developmental issues affecting the municipality.
