Volta Fair Ends with Rainfall, Mixed Reactions

Africa-Press – Ghana. The 2025 Volta Trade and Investment Fair ended on a vibrant note after 13 days of uninterrupted business activities, with exhibitors and patrons expressing mixed reactions.

Organisers and exhibitors reported strong patronage, stable operations and encouraging sales, with many calling for additional days to maximise returns.

Some exhibitors described the final-day rainfall as “a shower of blessings,” noting that although parts of the grounds became muddy, business activities continued unaffected. “Our gods are good; they watch over our businesses,” an exhibitor said, indicating that the fair enjoyed favourable weather throughout.

Several young entrepreneurs expressed excitement at meeting their targets.

Madam Nuella Rejoice, a national service personnel at UHAS and owner of Widas Pop Festa, said she was delighted to have achieved full sales targets for the first time.

“This year has been incredible. I exceeded expectations,” she said.

Businesses including Charity Fabrics, Gratis Laundry Detergent, Akesh Beauty Parlour and various food and beverage vendors also reported strong profits, noting that the 2025 edition came close to surpassing records of the previous fair.

However, some exhibitors expressed concerns over organisation and low returns.

According to interviews by the Ghana News Agency, many patrons attended mainly to enjoy the food and entertainment and not necessarily to make purchases.

Dr Elikem Gaitu, Managing Director of Saleria Med Care, said this year’s fair did not meet previous standards, possibly due to the twin events of the Fair and the National Farmers Day celebrations.

Another exhibitor, who preferred anonymity and deals in fabrics and other wares, said many attendees came only to “window shop,” which affected their investments.

Mr Frederick Avornyo, Chief Executive Officer of the Volta Fair, commended exhibitors, patrons and the public for supporting all activities — including the Sports Forum, Young Entrepreneurs Forum, Painting Challenge, MMDCEs’ Profile Reading and the summit — acknowledging that challenges were encountered from the onset to the final day.

“There is no event without challenges, but we are grateful to all who made this edition successful,” he said.

He assured that the next edition would be expanded and improved for “a bigger and better fair” that benefits businesses across the region and beyond.

Mr Avornyo expressed gratitude to the Volta Regional Minister, Mr James Gunu, and the Ho Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Stephen Adom, describing them as dependable leaders whose support ensured the fair’s success.
