Africa-Press – Ghana. Leaders and Elders of the New Parotic Party (NPP) have been urged to choose wisdom over ego, counsel over control and inclusion over exclusion because the tone set now would echo into the next election cycle and beyond.

“Hence the need for us to create a space for intentional visibility and dignity where all factions come together shaking hands to replace whispers, let public unity silence private speculation and to let clarity replace confusion.”

The call was contained in a statement issued by the Religious and Social Department of the Office of the Minority Leader, signed by Ven Fr. Aaron Moses Ato Eduah and copied to the Ghana News Agency at Winneba.

“We must remember that this party exists not only for individuals, but for a vision, not for positions, but for purpose, not for internal contests, but for national responsibility.”

The statement said they must not act as strangers, or as divided households, but as one family that had laboured, prayed, hoped and sacrificed together, as elections test more than popularity, maturity, discipline, unity and understanding of purpose.

It stated that with the contest over, greater work must begin and it was not a time for silence retreat, or quiet resentment but a time for gathering, healing and strengthening the house by bringing the four contestants with their followers on board because elections were won by numbers.

The statement further explained that the call was not about triumph or defeat but it was about consolidation, recognising that every contestant carried a portion of the party’s strength, vision and grassroots energy to ensure that no effort was wasted, no voice was irrelevant and no supporter was expendable.

“In every contest, people invest their hearts, loyalty, time, resources and hope and when the contest ends, those hearts must not be abandoned, they must be embraced, affirmed and redirected toward the greater cause.

“A house that is divided against itself cannot stand while a house which is united after testing becomes unshakable, hence the call on the contestants to come together not as rivals, but as co-labourers, since numbers matter for momentum, for legitimacy, for ground strength and for morale.

“But beyond arithmetic, numbers represent people and people are the soul of the party, we must resist the temptation to downplay this moment as history teaches us that elections are not only won by the ballot but sustained through unity afterwards, since many great movements lost their future because they mishandled their present. We must not repeat that error.”

“Leadership is not tested in victory speeches but in reconciliation meetings, not in slogans but in bridge-building and not in who emerged first but in how persons who did not make it are treated.

The statement indicated that NPP’s future required energy, ideas, and commitment by all, including supporters of each of the contestants hence no one should feel orphaned in the process to send a signal to our opponents and the nation that the Party understands discipline, maturity and strategic unity.

“This is pastoral work, this is shepherding, this is tending to the flock after a long and exhausting season, let us bind wounds, speak life and redirect our energy toward the road ahead, since the next chapter of the party will not be written by one person alone but by organised, motivated, united numbers, people who chose the party over personal grievance and pride.

“May wisdom guide our steps, humility guard our hearts, and unity crown our efforts as we move forward together with hope for a stronger and united party,” it added.
