President Mnangagwa Ends Three-Day State Visit to Ghana

Africa-Press – Ghana. Zimbabwean President Dr Emmerson Mnangagwa Friday morning ended his three-day state visit to Ghana. He was seen off at the Accra International Airport by his host, President John Dramani Mahama.

Prior to his departure on Friday morning, President Mnangagwa toured the Sweden Ghana Medical Centre in Accra.

He described the state-of-the-art facility, which utilizes nuclear energy for cancer treatment as truly impressive.

“It is my vision to see a similar high-tech medical facility established in Zimbabwe to bolster our healthcare system,” he stated.

During the three-day state visit, Ghana and Zimbabwe signed 10 major memoranda of understanding (MoUs).

The MoUs entered between the two countries include the signing of the agreed minutes of the inaugural session of the Ghana-Zimbabwe Permanent Joint Commission for Cooperation (PJCC) and MoU on Cooperation in Political and Diplomatic Consultations.

Others are the MoU on Research, Training and Documentation in Foreign Services Institutes between the two countries, MoU on Cooperation in the field of Sports and Recreation Development and the MoU on Cooperation in the field of Health.

There was also the MoU on Cooperation in the field of Energy, MoU on Cooperation in the field of Archives, and MoU on Cooperation in the field of Tourism.

The rest are MoU between ZIM-Trade and the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) and MoU between the Institute of African Knowledge and the Ghana Museum and Monument Board in collaboration in African liberation project.

There was, however, an 11th one which was between two private companies – Zoomlion Ghana Limited and Geo Pomona Waste Management (Pvt) Ltd.

Both President Mahama and President Mnangagwa reiterated their full commitment to ensuring these are implemented for the mutual benefit of our two nations.

President Mnangagwa extended his deepest gratitude to President Mahama and the Government and the People of Ghana for their exceptional hospitality.

In the visitor’s book, President Mnangagwa noted, that, “The warmth of this nation is remarkable.”

He also thanked President Mahama for the gracious send-off at Accra International Airport.

“Together, we continue to build bridges and strengthen our pan-African ties”. President Mnangagwa said.

On day two of his three-day state visit, which began on April 1, President Mnangagwa laid wreath at the tomb of Ghana’s Founding President Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah at the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park.

The wreath was in honour of Dr Nkrumah for his pioneering role in Africa’s liberation struggle.
