Let Prayer Inspire Responsibility Says President Mahama

Africa-Press – Ghana. President John Dramani Mahama has called on Ghanaians to ensure that their prayers are matched with responsible actions in their communities, workplaces, and public service to help the country achieve its development goals.

Addressing worshippers at the Good Friday Miracle Service organised by the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches, at the Black Star Square in Accra, President Mahama emphasised that faith alone was insufficient if it did not translate into tangible actions that fostered unity, integrity, and service to others.

“Let our prayers be matched with responsibility,” President Mahama said, urging citizens to actively contribute to the wellbeing of their neighbours and communities as an expression of their faith.

He noted that national transformation depended more on the character of citizens than on government policies, emphasising that integrity, honesty, and commitment to duty were essential to national progress.

“It is not the policies that will transform this nation. It is the character of Ghanaians that will make Ghana transform,” he said.

President Mahama called on Ghanaians to embrace forgiveness and reconciliation as key pillars of personal and national growth, encouraging individuals to resolve past conflicts and embody Christ-like generosity in their daily lives.

“I beg you, when you leave here, call that person and say, I forgive you. Christ was generous and kind,” he said.

Reflecting on the significance of Easter, President Mahama highlighted the lessons of sacrifice, hope, and renewal as core pillars in the Good Friday and Easter story, reminding Ghanaians that just as the resurrection followed the cross, progress for individuals and the nation follows sacrifice, resilience, and unwavering commitment to moral values.

“Before victory, there is sacrifice. You cannot be victorious without sacrificing,” he emphasised.

He urged citizens not to lose hope despite challenges, saying restoration and renewal were always possible when people acted with integrity, responsibility, and faith-driven purpose.

“Do not get tired of doing good, because at the appropriate time you will reap the harvest for the good that you have done,” he noted, encouraging persistent efforts in personal, communal, and national development.

He called on global leaders to pursue dialogue and exercise restraint in addressing world conflict, particularly the ongoing war in the Middle East.

“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. So, Ghana stands for peace, justice, and human dignity,” he added.

The annual Good Friday service at the Black Star Square was attended by worshippers from across the country.
