Africa-Press – Ghana. RamaVisions, a non-governmental organisation using sport as a tool for cultural expression and youth development, has paid a courtesy call on the Culture and Education Attaché of the United States Embassy in Ghana.

Led by its Chief Executive Officer, Madam Ofeibea Ramatu Abdulai, the engagement focused on sharing the organisation’s vision of nurturing young people—particularly girls—through football as a platform for discipline, leadership, and social inclusion, while seeking areas of collaboration with the Embassy.

Madam Abdulai expressed appreciation to the Embassy for the meeting, describing sport, especially football, as a powerful cultural force that shapes identity, builds confidence, and creates opportunities for young people beyond the playing field.

She explained that RamaVisions adopts a holistic approach, blending sport, education, mentorship, and community engagement to help young athletes overcome socio-economic barriers.

This, she said, included providing educational materials, school uniforms, and tuition support, while identifying and mentoring young female footballers across the country.

Responding, Madam Donya’ Eldridge, Culture and Education Attaché of the US Embassy, commended RamaVisions for integrating education, sport, and youth empowerment, describing it as an effective model for development.

She noted that the Embassy would explore future opportunities for collaboration, including educational and cultural exchange programmes, and encouraged the organisation to take advantage of upcoming initiatives.

Madam Donya’ Eldridge said there were Ghanaian resource persons who were trained in the USA and would be available to exchange their ideas with RamaVisions.

The meeting underscored the growing recognition of sport as a cultural and social development tool, particularly for empowering young women and fostering international partnerships.
