Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Jacintho Andrews Kwaku, Assembly Member for the Ketukalonte Electoral Area and incumbent Presiding Member (PM) of the Jasikan Municipal Assembly, has been re-elected to serve another two-year term.
At a special meeting held at the Assembly Hall in Jasikan in the Oti Region, all 36 assembly members present and voted “Yes” for Mr Kwaku, representing 100 per cent approval, with no “No” votes recorded.
This marks the fourth time he has been elected as Presiding Member of the Assembly.
The election was supervised by officials of the Electoral Commission, led by Mr Abukari Mohammed Sani, the Jasikan Municipal Electoral Officer.
Prior to the election, Mr Parke-Davis Magyigbe, the Jasikan Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), urged Assembly Members to vote conscientiously in the interest of the Municipality’s development.
In his acceptance speech, Mr Kwaku, who is also the National Dean of Presiding Members (PMs), Ghana, expressed profound gratitude to members for the confidence reposed in him through his unopposed re-election.
He called for unity and cooperation among members, stressing that the development of the Jasikan Municipality would benefit all residents.
Mr Kwaku cautioned against divisive tendencies, noting that a “pull him down” attitude could hinder progress.
He further advocated innovative strategies to enhance Internally Generated Funds (IGF) to boost revenue mobilisation for development projects.
Mr George Wellington Arhin, Kadjebi District Magistrate, administered the Oath of Secrecy, Oath of Office, and Oath of Allegiance to Mr Kwaku.
The Jasikan Municipal Assembly has 41 members, comprising 27 elected and 12 appointed members, as well as the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) and the Member of Parliament (MP).
