NPP elects Ernest Anim for Kumawu by-election

Africa-Press – Ghana. The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has elected Ernest Yaw Anim as the Parliamentary Candidate for the May 23 by-election in the Kumawu Constituency.

The primary was held on Sunday, April 23.

Mr Yaw Anim polled 195 out of the total valid votes cast to emerge winner.

He beat four other contenders to emerge triumphant.

In close second came Obaapa Ama Serwaa, who polled 181 votes.

Two aspirants including former Member of Parliament Yaw Baah had withdrawn from the elections. He threw his support behind Obaapa Ama Serwaa.

The Director of Health Promotions at the Ghana Health Service (GHS), Dr Aboagye Da-Costa, who also contested the primaries, came fourth while veteran radio presenter Osei Bempah came last with five votes.
