You’Ve been Selected to Reset our Sports Ecosystem – Sports Minister Tells New GOC Executives

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr Kofi Iddie Adams, the Minister for Sports and Recreation, has urged the newly elected Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) executives to spearhead the sports reset agenda.

The highly anticipated GOC elections has been successfully held, with Mr Richard Akpokavie getting an overwhelming victory in the presidential race as well as other victors in other positions.

Mr Adams, in a brief speech to the new executives, congratulated them for their respective victories and entreated all to be united as Ghana strives for sporting excellence.

“Elections are over, Mr President, and what is left now is leadership, and let’s try and be blind to who said what in the journey towards the elections.

“Sports, either Olympic or non-Olympic, should be the order of the day. The grassroots and the younger ones should get the opportunities, and that should be the mantle of this new leadership,” he said.

He rallied support for the new GOC executives, especially from former executives, and pledged his ministry’s support in all of their activities.

The Sports and Recreation Minister also urged the upcoming GOC administrations to look for more sportswomen to fill their sub-committees considering the few numbers that got elected.

He promised the setting up of the anti-doping agency following the passing of the bill and pledged that if funds are made available, they would build a center for any form of testing for athletes.

The Sports and Recreation Minister also urged the new administration to put the Amasaman OlympAfrica project to good use so that it would be beneficial to athletes.
