Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Eric Edem Agbana, the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, has held a strategic meeting with the Municipal Education Management Team to discuss actionable interventions aimed at improving educational delivery and learning outcomes across the constituency.
The high-level engagement, which took place at the Municipal Education Office in Dzodze, brought together key education stakeholders, including School Improvement Support Officers, Heads of Departments and Units, Administrative Staff, Directors, and Line Assistants.
Mr. Agbana expressed deep concern over the declining standards of education in Ketu North and called for a renewed and collective commitment to the academic and personal development of the constituency’s children.
“We are at a critical point in our educational journey, and we cannot afford to fail the next generation. We must all recommit to creating an environment where every child can succeed,” he stated.
Mr. Agbana unveiled some strategic, immediate, and medium-term interventions to reverse the downward trend and raise the bar for education in Ketu North, including free Mandatory Weekend Classes for Final-Year JHS Students in July 2025.
These sessions, organized in designated cluster centers across the municipality, will be facilitated by experienced subject specialists on a rotational basis. The aim is to better prepare students for the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE).
The MP announced the launch of the “MP’s Education Excellence Awards”, with the maiden edition scheduled for October 2025.
The awards will recognize outstanding performance among teachers, administrators, and support staff—an initiative inspired by appeals from local teacher associations.
Ahead of the upcoming Regional Inter-District Sports Festival in Hohoe, Mr. Agbana has committed GHC 20,000 and 50 mattresses to support the participation of schools from Ketu North.
The gesture is aimed at promoting holistic development among learners through sports and extracurricular engagement.
To ensure adequate preparation for this year’s BECE candidates, the MP presented a consignment of examination materials to the Municipal Education Directorate to support final mock examinations.
In a move to enhance administrative efficiency, Mr. Agbana donated Apple iMac computers to the Directorate.
The devices were secured through a partnership with Lifetime Wells, a U.S.-based NGO, facilitated by Mr. Kofi Lawson and Mr. Kenwood of the organization.
“These are just the beginning,” Mr. Agbana noted. “Several additional projects are under development and will be rolled out as they are finalized. The transformation of Ketu North begins with our children, and we are committed to empowering them through education.”
Mr. Raphael Mawuko Amenyo, the Ketu North Municipal Education Director, expressed profound gratitude to the MP for his consistent support and forward-thinking approach.
“These interventions speak directly to our needs as a Directorate. We are encouraged and energized by your leadership, and we assure you of our commitment to working collaboratively to uplift education in this municipality,”he said.
The strategic meeting marked a significant milestone in deepening cooperation between political leadership and educational management in Ketu North, signaling a strong, united front in the drive toward educational excellence.
