2021/22 Ghana Premier League Week 18: Match Preview – Asante Kotoko vs Dreams FC

Africa-Press – Ghana. Asante Kotoko hope to start the second round with a win and stretch their lead at the top of the Ghana Premier League table. Kotoko welcome Dreams FC to Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday in a match the league leaders are heavy favourites to secure victory.

The Porcupine Warriors can extend their lead with victory, possibly a 10-point gap by the close of the day as the chasing pack face tricky tests. Dreams come into this game on the back of a shock away win against Medeama.

Dreams had lost two consecutive games prior and travelled to Tarkwa without being given a dog’s chance but they put on an impressive display to achieve a 1-0 result. They can draw inspiration from that display as they face another tough opposition in Kotoko who have looked pretty comfortable at home this season.

Dreams came close to beating Kotoko in the first match of the season. Fatawu Issahaku scored a stunner in the 64th minute and Dreams held on until after the 85th minute when Kotoko produced three goals to snatch victory. Dreams were left disappointed and would be seeking revenge in front of Kotoko fans.

Dreams will need a really special performance given they have lost all their league meetings with Kotoko. They have played Kotoko seven times since they become a top-flight club in 2016 and all games have ended in favour of 24-time champions. The last two games have produced four goals each with Kotoko scoring three. Before that, Kotoko kept five successive clean sheets against Dreams.
