2021 has been a good year for Ghana Cycling Federation – Shaban

Africa-Press – Ghana. Mr. Mohammed Shaban Technical Director of the Ghana Cycling Federation (GCF), has described the year 2021 as a positive one for the federation. Speaking in an interview with the GNA Sports, Mr. Mohamed said the federation used the break in sporting activities due to COVID-19, to discuss the development of cycling in Ghana.

Mr. Mohamed mentioned that the Osagyefo Criterium Cycling Championship and the Prudential Life Insurance Championship were the major events for them and it was a result of the federation’s deliberations on generating spectatorship for the sport in the country.

He added that “the re-appointment of the president of GCF Mr. Mohammed Sahnoon to the board of Legal Arbitral Committee of the UCI and my personal appointment onto the Para-cycling Commission under the UCI was an unprecedented win for Ghana cycling as a whole”.

Mr. Moahmed highlighted that Ghana would be partnering with Ireland for the upcoming Commonwealth Games in 2022 and that would afford the para-cycling federation to make the mark since Ireland would not be part of the Commonwealth Games.
