Africa-Press – Ghana. Nigeria forward Umar Sadiq has revealed the Super Eagles are ready for the World Cup playoff against Ghana later this month.
The Black Stars host the Super Eagles on Friday March 29, 2022 in the first leg of the World Cup qualifier before travelling to Abuja in four days time for the second leg.
The Spain-based attacker insists the match is important for them as players and Nigeria as a country, and believes the team is ready for the Black Stars.
“I can see that everyone has been talking about it,” Umar told Omasports.
“Even me, I’ve been thinking about it because it’s our life. I hope we go there ready and ready to give everything from the first to the second game.”
Meanwhile, with Napoli star Victor Osiheme and former Manchester United striker Odion Ighalo returning, Sadiq is expected to start from the bench.
However, the 25-year-old is relishing the opportunity of playing alongside the two established names.
“You know, both of them [Osimhen and Ighalo] are top players,” Umar continued.
“They’ve already shown it. Even Osimhen is still showing it, and that’s what the country needs- players like him and also like Odion. They give a lot to the country, and I’m just trying to go there and enjoy myself with them, and I’m looking forward to that.” he added.
