Africa-Press – Ghana. In a surprising revelation, the Senior Campaign Aide to Vice-President Mahamudu Bawumia, Sammi Awuku, extolled the versatility of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) campaign song “Nana Winner” composed by legendary Ghanaian musician Daddy Lumba in 2013.

Awuku described the song as “bruutaa,” a term synonymous with a masterpiece, noting its widespread appeal that transcends traditional boundaries so much that it is played in both churches and nightclubs.

“It’s incredible how Daddy Lumba’s campaign song for the NPP is, it is ‘bruutaa.’ It’s played in both nightclubs and churches,” Awuku remarked to host of Yen Nsempa, Nana Yaa Brefo co-hosted by Isaac Ekow JB on May 14.

Awuku’s comments come at a crucial juncture in Ghanaian politics as the nation gears up for the 2024 general elections.

The acknowledgment of the campaign song’s impact underscores the significance of music as a tool for political mobilization and engagement.

Moreover, Awuku hinted at an upcoming release from the NPP camp end of May, promising a song that would equally be of quality and appeal. However, he remained tight-lipped about the identity of the composers, opting to keep the suspense alive until the song’s official unveiling.

He emphasized that the new composition aims to capture the essence of the NPP’s message while resonating with contemporary audiences.

“I do not want to mention names, but honourable people both old and young artistes are composing songs for us,” Awuku stated.
